The 2024 Taber and District 4-H Show and Sale will take place on June 6 and 7 at the Taber Agriplex.
Dorthea Mills, a Key Leader for the Taber 4-H District and General Leader for the Retlaw Prairie 4-H Beef Club, says that the 2024 Show and sale will be very similar to 2023’s in that the Female Breeding Project will be shown on June 6 at 6:00 p.m.
“Sheep will show first followed by the cow projects,” said Mills. “Then on the 7th will be the Market project with the sheep show starting right after the Parade of Clubs which should be around 10:15 a.m. The Beef Steer Show should start around noon and the hogs will be shown right before the sale starts. The hogs will sell first at 4 p.m. followed by the beef and sheep.”
New this year, Mills says, is that the Milk River Multi Club have been invited to show and sell with the Taber District. Mills says that the other clubs involved include Hays 4-H Club, Retlaw Prairie 4-H Beef, Bon Ayr Beef Club, New Ewe 4-H Club, Grassy Lake Multi Club, Taber Corn Dawgs 4-H, and Milk River 4-H Multi Club. Clubs, Mills says, will sometimes also sell their spare animals for money for their club, and they sometimes donate the money to a charity of their choice.
“This is the Achievement Day for our members and will conclude their projects,” said Mills. “The community support is always fantastic. Businesses have shown our members so much support and our members appreciate all our buyers. We appreciate the investment that the community puts into our members.”
In addition to the show, Mills said, there also will be a District Fun Day at the Taber Pool on June 21 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. for the club members.
