Taber teams step on the ice for CAHL playoff action

It’s playoff time for the Central Alberta Hockey League.

Taber’s U11 team got the second season started off right with a 5-4 win on Friday over Irvine. Gage Holcek paced the Taber attack with a goal and two assists. Ryden Baker scored twice, while Paxton Foote had two assists. Luca Nielsen and Tyrion Ewing added single goals, while Lincoln Bruan had an assist.

Dylan Volk made 49 saves to preserve the victory.

On Sunday, Irvine struck back with a big 7-3 win. Braun and Foote both had a goal and an assist, while Hudson Ilcyznski had the other goal.

Volk made 37 saves in goal for Taber.

The U13 team began round robin playoffs on Friday. Taber was dealt a 10-1 defeat against Picture Butte. Logan Rabusic had the lone goal, as Chance Crowson was in goal for the Oil Kings.

On Saturday, Taber fell 6-4 to Cochrane. Rabusic had three goals and Wyatt Valgardson added one. Theoren Bolig, Baron Stang and Samual Hathway had assists. Aidyn Derksen Arnel was in goal.

Taber’s U15 team kicked off the playoffs in style Saturday with a 7-1 win over Lethbridge, as Lincoln Wiebe led the way with three goals and four assists. Julian Woordman had two goals and four assists, while Kellon Schalk had a goal and an assist. Kash Kover also scored, while Ethan Volk, Skylar Jensen, Ryder Nielsen and Nate Kramer had assists.

Jack Lukacs was in goal and made 17 saves for the win.

Taber skated to a 9-2 win on Sunday over Lethbridge, as Wiebe had another big game with two goals and four assists. Volk had three goals and an assist and Schalk added two goals and an assist. Nielsen had a goal and an assist. Woordman had a single as Kramer, Jensen and Nolan Rabusic had assists.

Brodyn Sutka made 14 saves for the win.

The U18 team started the playoffs in Pincher Creek on Friday and fell by a 3-0 score. Avery Remfert made 45 saves in the game for the Oil Kings.

On Saturday, Taber skated to a 4-3 win over Pincher, thanks to a Kellen Lauwen hat trick. Jasper Sidam tallied three assists and Jaxson Coutts added a goal and an assist. Blake Rabusic had two assists, while Kayden Kress and Kylan Odland added single assists.

Ty Dorin made 27 saves in net for the win.
