CAHL schedule sees February games for Oil Kings

Taber Oil Kings teams saw plenty of Central Alberta Hockey League games over the past weekend as they continue jockeying for position before the end of the regular season.

U11

There were two games this weekend for the U11 Oil Kings as they welcomed in Pincher Creek and Nanton.

Saturday saw Pincher Creek come to Taber where the Oil Kings greeted them with an 8-2 shellacking. Ryden Baker had a hat trick while Lincoln Braun, Cage Holcek, and Paxton Foote all had a goal and an assist. Luke Engwer and Tyrion Ewing had a goal each, and Hudson Ilcyznski and Holden Capner had an assist each. Dylan Volk was stellar and made 45 saves on 47 shots in the Taber net.

Sunday saw Nanton in Taber for a 10:30 a.m. game. Thanks to big first and second periods, Taber was able to double up Nanton 4-2. Braun had a hat trick, Luca Nielsen had two assists, Engwer had the other goal, and Holcek, Foote, and Mason Woordman all had an assist. Volk was stellar yet again, making 51 saves on 53 shots in net.

The U11 Oil Kings are back to CAHL games this coming weekend. On Saturday, the team heads out on the road to take on Lethbridge. Sunday has the team back in Taber to take on Medicine Hat with a 10:30 a.m. puck drop.

U13

The U13 Oil Kings had a single road game over the weekend as they traveled to Crowsnest Pass on Sunday afternoon. The game sheet was unavailable on Monday evening.

Next up for the U13s is a home game against Crowsnest Pass on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

U15

With an undefeated streak ongoing, the U15 Taber Oil Kings had two games this past weekend. First up was a home game against Pincher Creek. Taber was able to score at will as they took the game 9-3. Ryder Nielsen had a hat trick and an assist, Julian Woordman had two goals and an assist, Lincoln Wiebe had a goal and an assist, Jenner Workman, Ethan Volk, and Adelyn Williamson all had a goal, and Kellon Schalk and Nate Kramer had an assist. Brodyn Sutka was great between the pipes with a 37-save performance.

Saturday’s game against Coaldale was much tighter as the two teams saw a hard-fought defensive battle. When the final buzzer sounded, Taber was able to keep their undefeated streak intact as they took it 2-1. Wiebe had both Taber goals while Woordman had two assists, and Workman and Skylar Jensen had one each. Sutka was rock solid yet again as the netminder made 25 saves on 26 shots.

One game is upcoming for Taber this weekend as they head out to Bow Island on Saturday evening.

U18

The U18s had the weekend off from CAHL league play and they return this weekend with a road game against Brooks Blue on Friday night.
