Oil Kings continue CAHL schedule

The Taber Oil Kings were back on the ice this past weekend as the Central Alberta Hockey League is heading towards the end.

U11

The U11 Oil Kings had a pair of games this past weekend as they looked to get back in the win column. First up was a date in Vauxhall against the Sabres on Saturday morning. In a high-scoring affair, it was the home team that was able to skate to a 9-7 win. Taber saw Ryden Baker score four goals, Lincoln Braun had two goals and two assists, Hudson Ilczynski had a pair of assists, Paxton Foote had the other Oil King goal, and Mason Woordman and Tyrion Ewing had an assist each. Dylan Volk got the start in net and made 23 saves on 32 shots.

On Sunday, the team was back on the road to take on Nanton. No game sheet was available on Monday evening.

Next up for the U11 Oil Kings is a pair of home games against Pincher Creek and Nanton on February. 3 and Feb. 4.

U13

It was an off weekend of CAHL action for the U13s as they regroup for season play this weekend. On Saturday, they head to Coaldale while Sunday sees them back on the road for a game against High Country.

U15

Looking to keep their perfect regular season record intact, the U15 Oil Kings had a single game this past weekend on the road against Lethbridge White.

Thanks to a high-powered offence, the Oil Kings were able to score their way to a 7-5 win. Lincoln Wiebe led the way with a hat trick and three assists while Julian Woordman had a hat trick, Ethan Volk had three assists, Adelyn Williamson had a goal and an assist, Skylar Jensen had a pair of assists, Jaxson Badura had a single goal, and Jenner Workman and Nolan Rabusic each had an assist. Jack Lukacs got the start between the pipes and made 35 saves on 40 shots.

The U15s return to their CAHL schedule this weekend with a single game on the road on Friday night against a Kainai.

U18

It was a two-game weekend for the U18 Oil Kings as they had a pair of road games. Friday saw the team out in Lethbridge to take on Lethbridge White. Taber was firing on all cylinders in the opening game as they were able to double up Lethbridge 10-5. Kayden Kress had four goals and an assist while Kellen Lauwen had four goals of his own. Carter Jensen and Tristen Egeland-Cusker had a goal and an assist each, Samuel Klaas had two assists, and Kylan Odland, Carter Kerkhoff, Evan Untereiner, Mason Van Seters, and Blake Rabusic all had one assist in the win. Avery Remfert played two periods in net and made 20 saves on 24 shots while Ty Dorin got one period with 13 saves on 14 shots.

The scoring continued the following day saw Taber continue to fill the net as when they took on Fort Macleod. When all was said and done, Taber had another win, this time 11-6. Kress had a hat trick and three assists, Lauwen had a hat trick and two assists, Jasper Sidam had a pair of assists, Jensen, Tate Nakashima, Jaxson Coutts, Ryan Gray, and Untereiner all had a single goal, and Olden, Rabusic, Kerkhoff, and Van Seters all had one assist. Dorin got the full game and made 16 saves on 22 shots.

The next action for the U18 Oil Kings comes on Feb. 9 when they visit Brooks Blue.
