Oil Kings have busy weekend of CAHL action

Hockey season is still in full swing and Taber Oil Kings teams were back on the ice as the Central Alberta Hockey League continues.

U11

The U11s had a single game on tap this past weekend as they welcomed in Raymond on Saturday morning. No game sheet was available as of Monday night. The U11 Oil Kings are back in action this coming weekend for two more games. On Jan. 20, they take on the Sabres in Vauxhall and on Jan. 21 they’re back on the road to face off against Nanton.

U13

Two games came and went for the U13 Oil Kings as they hosted Coaldale on Saturday and Picture Butte on Sunday. To start the weekend, the Oil Kings saw Coaldale come to town for a high-scoring game to kick things off. When it was all said and done, the visitors were the ones who were able to gain a win as they took it 11-8. Kash Kover had a hat trick and an assist for Taber while Mitchell Kimoto had two goals and an assist, Dalan Blasetti had a goal and an assist, Seth Jespersen and Logan Rabusic each had a goal, and Blake Untereiner, Theoren Bolig, and Wyatt Valgardson each had an assist. Aidyn Derksen Arnel made 26 saves on 30 shots while Chance Crowson made 19 saves on 26 shots in the Taber net.

Sunday saw Picture Butte in Taber and Taber looked to make it a 1-1 weekend. This one was all Picture Butte though as the visitors skated to a 12-5 win. Kimoto had two goals and an assist, Rabusic had a goal and two assists, Bolig added two more assists, Jespersen and Kover had one goal each, and Dallin Langhofer-Krahn and Wyatt Valgardson each had an assist. Derksen Arnel was back in net and made 28 saves on 40 shots.

The U13s return to CAHL action on Jan. 27 when they head to Coaldale and then on Jan. 28 they take on High Country.

U15

In hopes of adding to their win streak, the U15 Oil Kings had two more games this past weekend as they saw Bow Island and Lethbridge White come to Taber.

Saturday was a matchup against Bow Island and while it was a close game, Taber was able to win 7-4 thanks to a big second period. Lincoln Wiebe had a hat trick and an assist, Ethan Volk had a goal and three assists, Ryder Nielsen and Julian Woordman had a goal and an assist each, Skylar Jensen had two assists, Kellon Schalk had a goal, and Kash Kover had an assist. Brodyn Sutka got the start in net and made 32 saves on 36 shots.

Sunday was another great game as Lethbridge White and the Oil Kings battled hard. While Lethbridge looked to close the gap late, Taber was able to hold on for a 7-5 win. Wiebe had two goals and three assists in the game while Woordman had a hat trick, Volk had three assists, Adelyn Williamson had a goal and an assist, Jensen had two assists, Jaxson Badura had a goal, and Jenner Workman and Nolan Rabusic each had one assist. Jack Lukacs made 35 saves on 40 shots in the Taber net.

Next weekend has one game on tap for the U15 Oil Kings as they head to Taber on Sunday morning to take on Lethbridge White.

U18

The U18s were off this past weekend and they return to their CAHL schedule this Friday against Lethbridge White and Saturday against Fort Macleod. Both games are on the road.
