CAHL season continues for Oil Kings

This past weekend saw the Central Alberta Hockey League continue for all Taber Oil Kings teams.

U11

Only one game was on tap for the U11 Oil Kings as they were on the road to take on Pincher Creek.

Both teams filled the net, but It was the home team that was able to carve out an 8-6 win. Taber saw Paxton Foote score a hat trick while Lincoln Braun had a goal and an assist, Ryden Baker and Cooper Ross had a single goal each, and Cage Holcek had an assist. Dylan Volk was the starting netminder, making 25 saves on 32 shots.

The U11s now regroup and focus on an upcoming two-game weekend which sees them welcome in Vauxhall on Saturday for a 12:45 p.m. game. Sunday is a road game against Medicine Hat.

U13

Saturday was the lone game day for the U13 Oil Kings as Taber took on the Picture Butte Blades. Thanks to big second and third periods, Picture Butte was able to defeat Taber by a final score of 8-5. Seth Jespersen had a pair of goals and an assist for Taber while Blake Untereiner, Logan Rabusic, and Wyatt Valgardson each had one goal. Cooper Broderson, Mitchell Kimoto, and Jaxson Tychsen each chipped in with an assist. Aidyn Derksen Arnel was between the pipes and the netminder made 30 saves on 38 shots.

This coming weekend is a two-pack for the U13s as they head out on the road to take on Vulcan on both Saturday and Sunday.

U15

With two home games, the U15 Oil Kings were looking to gain some wins when Pincher Creek and Kainai came to town.

Saturday was a matchup against Pincher Creek and the Taber offence led the way as they took the game 10-2. Lincoln Wiebe had four goals along with an assist, Ryder Nielsen had four assists, Jenner Workman had two goals and an assist, Kellon Schalk and Ethan Volk had a goal and an assist, Julian Woordman and Skylar Jensen each had a pair of assists, Nolan Rabusic and Adeline Williamson found the back of the net once each, and Nate Kramer and Jaxson Badura had an assist each. Jack Lukacs was in net for Taber and was stellar, making 42 saves on 44 shots.

Sunday’s game against Kainai was much closer, but the Oil Kings were once again victorious with a 4-1 win. Wiebe continued his strong play with a hat trick and an assist, Schalk had two assists, Jaxson Badura had the other goal, and Jensen had an assist. Lukacs was back in net and was rock solid yet again with 44 saves on 45 shots.

Next weekend sees another two games, this time on the road. Saturday is a matchup against Foothills while Sunday is a game against Pincher Creek.

U18

It was a two-game homestand for the U18 Oil Kings this past weekend. Friday night saw Fort Macleod come to town and it was a close game. Unfortunately, the visitors were able to squeak out a 7-6 victory. Kayden Kress had four of the Taber goals and an assist while Mason Van Seters had a goal and an assist, Aiden Farewell had two assists, Carter Jensen had the other goal and Kellen Lauwen, Ayden Umbach, Tate Nakashima, and Avery Remfert all had an assist. Remfert also racked up 23 saves on 27 shots while Ty Dorin turned away four of seven.

The weekend finished with Claresholm coming to Taber. Thanks to a four-goal second period, Taber was able to take the game 6-4. Kress had a pair of goals and assists, Lauwen had two goals and an assist, Jensen and Ryan Gray each had a goal and an assist, while Umbach, Jaxson Coutts, and Farewell each had an assist.

This weekend sees Taber hit the road for a pair of games. Saturday is a game against Coaldale while Sunday is a road game against Claresholm.
