Golden Suns look to add wins over weekend

The Taber Golden Suns were back in action this past weekend as all three teams look to climb up the standings in the South Central Alberta Hockey League.

U13

The U13 Suns had a pair of games this weekend as they looked to collect four points. On Saturday, the Okotoks Oilers came to town. The first period was all Oilers as the visiting team scored four unanswered. In the second period, the Suns were able to find their first goal on the power play as Madix Miller found the back of the net with Nelson Sonna Soufo and Canaan Fleck drawing the assists. The Oilers would add two more goals late in the second and they took a 6-1 lead into the third. The Oilers would score 28 seconds into the third period and the Suns looked to overcome a 7-1 lead. While the Suns were able to score three straight, they still fell 7-4 in the game. Delphin De Boer and Sonna Soufo had a goal and an assist each in the third while Fleck had a single goal. Aiden Vande Munt, Ryker Orsten, and Myles Matisho all had an assist. Both Suns’ goalies got into the game and Ashton Jensen made 31 saves on 35 shots while Jack Lukacs made three saves on six shots.

On Sunday, the Suns hit the road to take on Airdrie.
