While Christmas break looms, Taber Oil King teams still have some games left before the Central Alberta Hockey League takes a break.
Only one game was on the calendar for the U11 Oil Kings this past weekend. On Saturday, the Oil Kings saw Magrath come to town and after a close battle, the Oil Kings skated to a 5-4 win thanks to a late game-winner by Logan Rabusic. Rabusic scored four total goals in the game while Jaxson Tychsen had three assists, Cage Holcek had two assists, Mitchell Kimoto had the other Taber goal, and Samuel Hathaway, Luca Nielsen, and Cooper Ross all pitched in with an assist. Dylan Volk was busy in the crease as the netminder made 34 saves on 38 shots.
The U11 Oil Kings return to the ice for two more games this December. On Saturday, the Vauxhall Sabres come to town for a 12:45 p.m. puck drop. The following day sees the Oil Kings depart Taber to take on Duchess at 12:30 p.m.
With two games on tap this past weekend in Oyen, the U13 Oil Kings saw tons of goals hit the back of the net. On Saturday, both teams were hot offensively, but the home team was able to find a few more as they skated to an 8-6 win. Ryder Nielsen had a hat trick and an assist in the game, Hayden Eldridge had a pair of goals, Cole Swanson and Dallin Langhofer-Krahn had two assists each, Seth Jespersen had a goal each, and Jaxson Badura had a single assist. Brodyn Sutka made 12 saves on 13 shots while Aidyn Derksen Arnel had 17 saves on 24 shots.
The offence continued to click on Sunday but the home team was once again able to collect a win, this time 10-6. Julian Woordman had two goals while Eldridge had a goal and an assist, Jenner Workman, Nielsen, and Badura had a goal each, and Blake Untereiner and Langhofer-Krahn had an assist each. Sutka was back between the pipes in the game.
