It was all on the line for the U11 Tier 6 Oil Kings this past weekend as they hit the road to Redcliff on Saturday for the deciding game of the T6 Red finals.
After splitting the first two games, the teams met one final time on Saturday afternoon to see who would be declared the champions of T6 Red. After the first period, Taber had a 2-1 lead, but Redcliff was able to bounce back efficiently in the second. The home team would fire four goals while Taber would answer with three of their own.
Heading into the final frame, the game was all square at five. Whatever was said in the Redcliff room during the break was effective as the team scored six straight goals in just under 12 minutes. Taber would respond with a pair of goals, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to erase the deficit as Redcliff secured the banner with an 11-7 win on home ice. While the Oil Kings were unable to win the game, they battled hard right until the final buzzer sounded. Logan Rabusic had a pair of goals and an assist for Taber while Blake Untereiner and Lincoln Braun had a goal and two assists each, Luca Nielsen, Barrett Devlieger, and Jaxson Tychsen all had a goal and an assist, Samuel Hathaway, Ryden Baker, and Mitchell Kimoto had an assist each. Aidyn Derksen Arnel got the start between the pipes for the Oil Kings.
