Lethbridge, Medicine Hat ringette associations teaming up

Posted on September 30, 2020 by Taber Times

The Lethbridge Ringette Association has teamed up with the Medicine Hat Ringette Association for the upcoming season.

With the COVID-19 throwing restrictions on travel this season, the two associations have created the “Sunny South League” for the 2020-21 ringette season.

Typically the LRA is part of the Calgary Ringette League and often travel as far as Airdrie for league games, but due to the health zone restrictions that won’t be possible this season.

“We needed to find a way to play so our athletes would remain engaged and challenged while modifying what we would typically do in a season,” said U19 coach Susan Stevenson in an email. “This partnership will solve a lot of issues and will allow our players to continue to develop their skills and participate in competitive play. We are excited for this season and can’t wait for our athletes to hit the ice again.”

A schedule for league play is being developed by the two associations and will start in October.
