Taber Minor Hockey teams busy in final 2019 games

Taber Minor Hockey team were busy over the last weekend (Dec. 20-22) of the 2019 portion of the hockey season before Christmas break started.

BANTAM: The bantam Taber Oil Kings had two games going 1-1 on the weekend.

They started with a 5-2 loss to Oyen.

Goals came from Landon Howg, Kayden Kress while Berkley Emelson, Kellen Lauwen, Samuel Tolsma and Brant Allen found the score sheet with assists. Chase Plumb made 21 saves on 26 shots.

The second game of the weekend was much more successful as the Oil Kings’ offence exploded for a 9-1 win. Samuel Tolsma had a monster game with a goal and three assists while Brant Allen followed with two goals.

Kellen Lauwen and Jaxson Coutts each contributed with a goal and an assist and Landon Howg, Evan Friesen and Evan Rabusic had one assist each.
Austin Wheeldon backstopped the team to 16 saves on 17 shots.

PEEWEE: The peewee Oil Kings were not as lucky in their final 2019 game as they fell to Magrath Yellow 7-3.

Damian Beswick had the hot stick as he scored a hat trick while other points came from Tage Jensen with two assists and Konnor Wiebe, Tyson Church and Carter Kerkhoff each had an assist.

Avery Remfert made 29 saves on 36 shots.

ATOM: The atom Tier II Oil Kings finished off their 2019 with a 6-3 win over Indus.

Nixen Miller saw the hats fly with his hat trick while other offence came from Dane DeGraw with a goal and two assists and Delphin DeBoer with a goal and assist. Heston Hansen and Kellon Schalk each had two assists while Lincoln Wiebe and Riaden Koizumi had one a piece.

Ashton Jesen had 21 saves on 24 shots.
