Oil Kings prove royalty on the ice at several different age levels

Taber atom CAHL Oil Kings earned a 3-1 record and earned a silver medal on the way to a second-place finish at a tournament in Medicine Hat.

Wins included a 7-5 victory over Medicine Hat Stars.

Nixen Miller had four goals and Lincoln Weiss had two. Ryler Kiss notched a single.

The Oil Kings registered a 9-4 victory over Moss Bank Blades.

Chase Stronge had four goals and Miller had a hat trick. Cruz Duell and Ayden Umbach had singles. Umbach also drew three assists, with Stronge and Konnor Wiebe getting two assists each.

The Oil Kings rounded out its victories with a 3-1 win over Leduc Roughnecks.

Duell, Carter Kerkhoff and Wiebe tallied for the Oil Kings.

The Oil Kings suffered a 14-1 loss to Prairie Storm in the tournament-deciding game. Wiebe scored the lone Oil Kings tally.

NOVICE: Taber Oil Kings Novice CAHL team hosted the Cremona Cowboys on Saturday, and earned a big come-from-behind tie to keep its undefeated record intact.

The Oil Kings scored three unanswered goals with just over five minutes left in the game, including scoring the tying goal with the golaie pulled.

Dane DeGraw had four goals and one assist and Lincoln Wiebe had one goal and two assists.

Julian Woordman scored two goals. Kellon Schalk had a goal and one assist. Other assists were made by Delphin Deboer, Madix Miller and Nathan Gensorek.

The Oil Kings, who play in Tier II, then hosted Brooks Junior Bandits (Tier III) on Sunday. In an effort to show good sportsmanship, head coach Chad Wiebe once again changed the lines with forwards playing defence and vice versa. The Oil Kings won 12-0, giving goalie Ashton Jensen another shutout. Nate Kramer scored four goals and had two assists, while Miller got a hat trick and had two assists.

Schalk got two goals and one assist. Gensorek had one goal and assisted twice.

Jenner Workman and Wiebe each had a goal and an assist. DeGraw, Mikaelah Clingman and Deboer each had single assists.

The Shawn Anderson Memorial Novice Tournament will be held this upcoming weekend at the Taber Arena. There will be 16 teams playing, including the three Oil King teams, playing over two ice surfaces. Come out and cheer on your local Oil Kings teams.

MIDGET: Taber midget Oil Kings skated to a 5-2 victory over Lethbridge on the road on Sunday.

Cole McLelland and Michael Stronge both had two goals apiece and Peyton Poncelet nothed a single. Luke Bell had three assists.
