Peewee Suns take two

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns improved its record to 3-2 on the season, with a successful South Central Alberta Hockey League road weekend, with an explosion of scoring.

Saturday afternoon saw the Golden Suns upend Okotoks Oilers Green (3-4) 8-2.

Kade Duell netted four goals and Aidyn Law and Colby Gulliver each scored two goals apiece. Bowman Klippenstein had two helpers. Kahil Wright was solid in goal, stopping 31 of 33 shots for the win.

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns followed up with a 10-4 victory against Foothills Bisons (2-5).

Klippenstein notched four goals and Duell had two. Law, Brady Magarrell, Connor Chapman and Gulliver had singles. Klippenstein and Law each had three assists apiece.

Brylin Noble earned the win in goal for the Golden Suns, facing 30 shots on net.

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns return home on Saturday with a 5:30 p.m. game against Medicine Hat Hounds. The team then hits the road on Sunday for a game against Okotoks Oilers Black.

BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns (2-4-1) had a solid weekend of SCAHL play, earning a tie and win in the standings.

The tie was a 4-4 draw with Okotoks Oilers (3-1-3) at the Taber Arena on Saturday evening, mounting a furious comeback with three unanswered goals in the third period.

Nathan Verloop tallied twice and Rylan Millo and Heath Hansen had singles. Millo also had two assists. Landon Porteous faced 38 shots on goal to earn the tie.

The team hit the road on Sunday and doubled up Foothills Bisons (0-7) 2-1.

Verloop and Hansen scored for the Suns.

Scout Sidam earned the win net, facing 28 shots on goal.

Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns battle the Foothills Bisons on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Taber Arena.

MIDGET: Taber Golden Suns (1-3) fell 4-3 to undefeated Okotoks Oilers (4-0) on the road on Saturday in SCAHL play.

Darian Virostek, Tristan Miller and Cody Stange scored for the Golden Suns. Gage Reimer was busy in net for the Suns, facing 42 shots on goal in the loss, with two of the Oilers goals coming via the power play.

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns are on the road this weekend with a Saturday game against Airdrie Lightning and Sunday against CNHA Canucks.
