A dozen members of the Taber Viper Swim Club made their way to the Fort Macleod Sharks Swim Club Invitational over the weekend, with many solid individual races as a result.
Tayla Silver earned four podium finishes among 13-and-14-year-old girl swimmers. They included top times in 100-metre backstroke (1:22.91) and 50-metre fly (35.46). She also placed second in both 100-metre IM (1:24.39) and 50-metre freestyle (32.76).
Kaylee Bruce’s top finish was third in 25-metre flutterboard (41.85) for six-and-under girls.
Morgan Bruce had a trio of fourth-place finishes for seven-and-eight-year-old girls. They included 50-metre backstroke (58.06), 100-metre IM (2:16.14) and 50-metre breaststroke (1:05.04).
Kade Haslam managed a sixth in 25-metre backstroke (29.37) for seven-and-eight-year-old boys.
Paige Hofer’s top finish was a fifth for 100-metre backstroke (1:43.40) for 11-and-12-year-old girls.
For seven-and-eight-year-old girls, Katelynne Kormos took fifth place for 50-metre breaststroke (1:13.04).
For six-and-under girls, Taryn Kormos managed sixth for 50-metre backstroke (1:35.97).
Mikayla Kress’ top finish was fifth in 25-metre backstroke (30.72) for seven-and-eight-year-old girls.
Carson Love had second-fastest time for 100-metre backstroke (1:45.32) for 11-and-12-year-old boys.
Cassie Love had a pair of sixth-place finishes for nine-and-10-year-old girls which included 100-metre freestyle (1:42.81) and 50-metre breaststroke (1:01.57).
Dion Velarde’s top personal finish was a second-place time in 50-metre breaststroke (42.20) for 13-and-14-year-old boys.
For nine-and-10-year-old boys, Don Velarde’s top finish was second place in 50-metre backstroke (49.72).
Taber Viper Swim Club now prepares for regionals in Lethbridge which start Aug. 10 for a three-day meet. For those that qualify for provincials in Edmonton, they start Aug. 17 for a three-day meet.
