Midget Suns quiet Hurricanes

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns (3-2-1) skated to a 3-3 draw with Lethbridge Hurricanes (7-0-1) on Friday night on the road in South Central Alberta Hockey League play, as the Suns handed the Hurricanes its first blemish of the season.

Mason Sande had a goal and an assist and Kole Fujita and Cole Jensen also scored. Kyle Hulit and Seth McCulloch drew assists.

Ethan Barrows faced 41 shots on net to preserve the tie in net.

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns get to enjoy a homestand this weekend with a Friday game against Wheatland Chiefs at 8:30 p.m. at the Taber Arena. The team also hosts CNHA Canucks on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Taber Arena.

PEEWEE: Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns (0-8) suffered two lopsided losses on the weekend in South Central Alberta Hockey League play.

The first was a 14-1 defeat at the hands of Medicine Hat Hounds (7-0) on the road on Friday.

Max Davis scored the lone Suns tally. Kahil Wright and Marek Schlenker were under siege facing a combined 51 shots in the loss.

Peewee Golden Suns returned home on Sunday and were doubled up 10-5 by West Central Tigers (3-3-1).

Aidyn Law and Ty Fraser each tallied twice and Kolter Walburger notched a single. Walburger also had three assists with Chance Loke, Hunter Damberger, Law and Fraser getting single helpers.

Wright faced 42 shots on net in the loss.

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns are on the road this weekend with a Friday game against Chestermere Lakers and Sunday against Wheatland Braves.

BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns (1-6-1) split its pair of SCAHL games this past weekend with identical scores.

The Suns were edged by West Central Tigers (7-1-1) 4-3 at the Taber Arena on Saturday evening, as special teams factored into six of the seven goals scored in the contest.

All three Sun goals came via power play with Caden Heins scoring twice and Kaden Walburger once. Carter DeBoer drew three assists with Griffin McCulloch, Nathan Verloop and Kade Degenstein drawing single helpers.

Ty Young faced 25 shots on net in the loss.

The Suns were on the right end of a 4-3 decision on Sunday with a win against Wheatland Warriors (3-6-1) on the road.

DeBoer, Verloop, Brinley Degenstein and Peyton Poncelet scored for the Suns. Dylan Granson had two assists and Walburger and Carson Cleland had single helpers.

Landon Porteous was solid in net, facing 34 shots to earn the win.

Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns are on the road this weekend with games against Airdrie Lightning and Bow Valley Timberwolves.
