W.R. Myers Rebels varsity girls basketball team trounced Winston Churchill Griffins 81-29 on the road last Wednesday in Southern Alberta High School Girls Basketball League play.

“It is a challenge to play in these sort of games. The girls did well to keep themselves on task for the most part. We encourage the girls each game they play to focus on at least one aspect of their game they can work and improve upon. Everyone contributed,” said Brandon Bullock, assistant coach for the W.R. Myers Rebels varsity girls basketball team. “Each player contributes in different ways, some result in statistics, others contribute to statistics. We have one player who, among other things, has the ability to worry the opponents and officials in a unique way.”

Millay Johnson led the team with 27 points to power the Rebels. Kitawna Sparks and Natalie Hoyt each had 13 points apiece. The Rebels will have a harder time against Catholic Central Cougars today on the road in Southern Alberta High School Girls Basketball League play. The Rebels travel to Red Deer this weekend to compete in the Hunting Hills Tournament.
