That included a breezy 30-point win over Notre Dame High School in the championship with an 80-50 win.

“We were able to substitute very freely in this game,” said Kenney Wood, head coach of the W.R. Myers Rebels varsity girls basketball team, adding a dominate offensive second quarter, with the Rebels scoring 29 points, put the game out of reach. “Everyone scored in the game and defensively we were able to hold them to five points in the third quarter.”

Natalie Hoyt poured in 23 points for the Rebels who got 21 from Millay Johnson. Jenna Nelson had nine points and Austen Robbins chipped in eight.

The Rebels started its tournament run with a 72-32 blowout of Crescent Heights.

Hoyt hit for 14 points and Johnson added 13. Genna Wright hauled in 10 rebounds.

“Everyone scored in this game and was able to contribute to the win. We played exceptional defence,” said Wood.

The Rebels made no doubt they would get to the final by putting its semifinal away by the first quarter, outscoring its opposition 23-5 in the first quarter, on the way to a 57-38 win over Lindsay Thurber.

“We came out very quick and really put some defensive pressure on them. That set the tone for the rest of the game where we were able to hold the 20-point lead for the rest of the game,” said Wood.

Hoyt had 16 points in the win with Johnson adding 10. Wright had seven points to go with eight rebounds. Robbins added nine points.

“Marty, Brandon and I are very pleased with the way the team in playing. The girls are also very excited to host the Rebel Classic and defend our home court.”
