Taber peewee Rebels football team dropped a 14-6 decision to the Lethbridge Junior Rams at Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Park last Thursday.

Kade Lund had the lone Rebels touchdown on a pass from quarterback Aiden O’Connor.

“It was a defensive battle with the Rams showing much improvement from the previous time we played, shutting down our running game,” said Jamie O’Connor, head coach of the Taber peewee Rebels football team. “Unfortunately, we had no answer. When we would gain some momentum, we would fumble or suffer a significant loss in yardage, leaving us in long-yardage situations, eliminating many play possibilities.”

The Rebels now host Magrath on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Park for the Division ‘A’ Consolation final.

“Although it was a tough loss, we as coaches have been proud of what the boys have accomplished this year and couldn’t ask for anything else,” said O’Connor. “In my mind, this has already been a very successful season, as we met most of our goals that we set as a team at the beginning of the season. We’ve also been one of the most respected teams in the league.”

“Gaining praise from all teams whether we have won or lost, getting recognition for the sportsmanship shown on the field from opposing teams.”
