That time is nearing again as people flock to Cornfest and get some fun exercise at the same time.

The Town of Taber is taking registrations for the 23rd annual Cornfest Fun Run which goes Cornfest Saturday (Aug. 29).

“We always have over 200 people running. Last year we had more registered than ran because of the poor weather,” said Courtney Moser, summer programs co-ordinator for the Town of Taber.

“We have categories of runners from 12-and-under to 65-plus and we have people in every category usually for the 5K, not so much the 10K.”

Be it your circuit runner to the more casual enjoyment with family that makes it a stroll through the course, every type of runner/walker is featured at the Cornfest Fun Run.

“We have your hard-core runners and the families that do it together. It’s pretty wide ranging,” said Moser.

The five-kilometre run/walk starts at 9 a.m. on the street in front of the Aquafun Centre. The 10-kilometre runners start earlier at 8:45 a.m.

There is an early bird T-shirt deadline registration for the Cornfest Fun Run that is this Friday at noon. Fee for the Fun Run ranges from $27 without a T-shirt to $42.50 with a performance T-shirt included.

Walk-up registration is allowed until 8:30 a.m. the day of the race.

Package pick-up for the Cornfest Fun Run is Aug. 28 1-4:30 p.m. or Aug. 29 from 7-8:30 a.m.

You can register at the Taber Aquafun Centre or online at the Running Room Web site for an extra $3. Running Room registration link is http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=12240.

Race organizers are also looking for volunteers.

“We always have over 30 volunteers that are needed,” said Moser.
