A come-from-behind triumph over Eagle Butte last week has allowed the W.R. Myers baseball team to squeeze into Tier II provincials this weekend in Crowsnest Pass.
“That’s secured us into Tier II provincials,” said head coach Brendan Miller about the win on May 19. “We played pretty decently, we just had that one inning where we got down a little bit. Coming into the bottom of the 6th, it was 11-3, and we put up five runs to make it 11-8, and then put up another five in the 7th, to make it 13-12.”
Miller is confident the team — which struggled early on in the season — will prove a tough competitor this weekend.
“I think we’re going to surprise some people.”
“We had a rough start to the season, didn’t have everybody there, but now we have a full roster, and we’ve been playing a lot better.”
No injuries are currently registered to marr the team’s quest for some further w’s.
“We’re healthy, and everyone is going to be around, and everyone is going to get a chance at some point to help the team win.”
The team plays Friday and Saturday in Crowsnest Pass, with game times unavailable at press deadline.
