Peewee and midget Golden Suns teams split SCAHL games

Taber peewee “AA” Golden split its pair of South Central Alberta Hockey League games over the weekend. The first was a 4-2 loss to Olds Grizzlys on Saturday on the road.

Kolby James and Cash Regan scored for the Suns. Brayden Peters faced 40 shots on net in the loss.

The team bounced back with a 7-5 win over Red Deer on the road on Sunday.

Quade Hughson tallied twice and Regan, Derek Tonin, Derrien Tonin, Kalem Haney and Nolan Price had singles. Haney, James and Carson Haynes each had two assists. Derek Tonin, J.D. Hall, Colby Garner, Hughson, and Tristan Miller had single assists.

Braden Peters and Blake Vaselenak shared goaltending duties in the win.

Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns are on the road again this weekend with a game on Friday night against Lethbridge Hurricanes Red and a Saturday a game against Cranbrook Eagles. The team returns home on Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. game against Badlands Longhorns at the Taber Arena.

BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns fell 4-1 to the Badlands Longhorns on the road on Saturday.

James Halverson scored for the Suns with assists from Seth McCulloch and Tanner Turcato. Dalton Demers faced 33 shots on goal in the loss.

Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns hit the road on Saturday with a game against Foothills Bisons.

MIDGET: Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns split its pair of SCAHL games on the weekend, starting off with being doubled up by CRAA Blue on Friday night at the Taber Arena.

Dylan Heppler tallied twice for the Suns and Ace Wenbourne had a single. Jedd Horvath had two assists and Justin Tams had a single helper. Broc Merkl faced 38 shots on net in the loss.

The team bounced back with a 7-3 win over Cranbrook Knights on the road on Sunday.

Heppler had the hat trick and Wenbourne, Tams, Riese Nevil, and Tyson Tessemaker had singles. Clay Nevil had three helpers and Horvath, Tams, Brandon Langridge, Heppler, Logan Wiebe and Mack Honess had single assists.

Merkl earned the win in net, facing 26 shots.

Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns host Olds Grizzlys at the Taber Arena on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. The team also hosts Okotoks Oilers at the Taber Arena on Saturday at 8 p.m.
