For those links enthusiasts who want to get some last-minute golfing in, the Taber Golf Club will be keeping nine of its holes open until the end of the weekend thanks to Mother Nature more than co-operating.
“Since the years I’ve been here, even on just the maintenance crew, I’ve never seen temperatures like this, this late into October and the amount of golfers,” said Erik Gerlock, assistant golf professional at Taber Golf Club.
“Usually it’s just our regular seniors. But (Monday) we are still one of the few courses open and we’ve got a bunch of members from Henderson (Lake, in Lethbridge) and other courses that are down to play our course.”
Sunday will mark the last day the Taber Golf Club is open for golfers for the 2014 season as golfers got to enjoy 18 holes up until this past Tuesday.
Nine holes will be open from today until Sunday as crews look to get a jump on maintenance for the upcoming winter season.
“I can’t remember the last time we’ve golfed this late. And even if you were golfing this late in the season, it wasn’t the nicest of conditions. We’re still getting really warm temperatures,” said Gerlock as golfers could be seen in shorts and T-shirts this past weekend enjoying the golf course.
