Locals shine at Summer Games

The Alberta Summer Games in Airdrie have come and gone with several local Taber athletes representing Taber in Zone 1 competing.

Medaling was Keegan Brantner and Genna Wright with bronze in rugby. Also earning a bronze medal was Kitwana Sparks and Austen Robbins in basketball.

Finishing in fourth for soccer was Caleb Oevering.

Tea Miyanaga earned fourth for her U17 shot put in athletics (10.59 metres), and Medley Relay (4:47.88). Her other athletics finishes included a sixth in triple jump, an eighth in high jump, an 11th in long jump and a 14th in 100-metre dash.

Bradley Marsden and Cole Fiedler were both in football and finished in fifth for Zone 1.

Benjamin Kakuk competed in lacrosse and finished in sixth.

Daniel Jobert competed in basketball for Zone 1 and took eighth.

Overall Zone 1 earned 12 gold, 12 silver and 22 bronze medals at the 2014 Alberta Summer Games in Airdrie.
