The Municipal District of Taber council supports the Taber Pro Rodeo.
That was the message from council’s regular meeting.
Randy Fajnor of the Taber Pro Rodeo Committee to provide an update on the organization and to request.
In 2014 the rodeo celebrated its 76th year anniversary with a three-day event beginning on Friday, July 4 and running through to the finals on Sunday, July 6th.
The rodeo is an annual stop for professional rodeo athletes from across North America and is a stop on the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association path toward the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
This year, events included bareback, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, tie down roping, ladies barrel racing, novice saddle bronc, team roping, and bull riding.
Another addition to this year’s event was a midway, for children of all ages to take in some rides, play some fair games, or gobble up carnival goodies.
Following discussion, council awarded the Taber Professional Rodeo Committee a recreation grant of $1,500 with some stipulations.
