Barrel Racing shone in the Taber spotlight at the Agri-Plex this past weekend as participants from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan took part in the 3rd annual event. Co-organizer Dalyce Brewin said there were 230 participants during Saturday’s competition.

According to Brewin, Friday night was a warm-up and Saturday was the main jackpot and all the prizes and awards were given out. The event featured $2,500 added money open and $750 added money youth and a silent auction was also held with the proceeds raised of $1,460 going to Alberta flood victims.

“Silent auction items were donated by various businesses throughout the community,” added Brewin.

The event is held the same time each year with prizes won ranging from saddles to buckles to prize money.
