Taber Police Service
On March 30 the Taber Police Service entered into an investigation after receiving a report of a large quantity of drugs and cash located inside a Taber residence.
Through the investigation, a suspect was identified, and an arrest warrant was issued.
On April 4, Taber Police conducted a traffic stop where the female suspect and two male passengers were arrested. During a search of the vehicle, further amounts of drugs, cash, digital scales with drug residue, and other items, that are indicative of drug trafficking, were seized.
As a result of the investigation, a total of 496 grams of methamphetamine, 316 grams of cocaine, $17,905 in cash, multiple cellphones, packaging material and drug paraphernalia were seized.
The drugs seized carry a street value of $30,000 – $40,000. The methamphetamine alone would be enough to provide over 4500 uses, equivalent to half the population of Taber.
Chantal Catherine Bareman, 39, of Taber, faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime.
Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Bareman was released from custody, on conditions, and is scheduled to appear in Taber court of justice on May 7.
Police say additional charges are pending.
