On December 21, 2023, the M.D. of Taber was notified they were approved for a grant of $50,000 through the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP) funded by the Government of Canada and delivered by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).

“The funds will be utilized for the implementation of Asset Management software and the development of an AMP with condition assessment guidelines,” said Arlos Crofts, Chief Administrative Officer for the M.D. of Taber. “The allocated funds of $50,000 towards Asset Management Systems and AMP Development will be disbursed according to the guidelines set by the MAMP, overseen by the FCM.”

The decision to implement Asset Management software and develop an Asset Management Plan (AMP), Crofts says, was made in response to the need for a comprehensive understanding of our assets. Crofts says the funding for these initiatives comes from the Government of Canada through the MAMP, which is delivered by the FCM.

Crofts says that the M.D. of Taber is grateful for the financial assistance received, recognizing the value it adds to their efforts in improving the municipality’s overall asset planning capabilities.

“We acknowledge that while we are not asset management experts, this initiative marks a crucial step in our learning process towards effective asset management,” said Crofts.

Tamara Miyanaga, Reeve for the M.D. of Taber, also expressed her appreciation to the government for the financial assistance.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Government of Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for their support through the Municipal Asset Management Program,” said Miyanaga. “We look forward to the positive impact this funding will have on our asset management practices and, ultimately, the well-being of our communities.”
