The Taber Public Library is inviting locals to stop by and view Leaving Canada – The Mennonite Migration to Mexico. It’s a traveling exhibit produced by the Mennonite Heritage Village, Mennonite Historical Society of Canada and Plett Foundation. It can be viewed from now until early January during library hours.

Dawn Kondas, program coordinator at the library, gave a description of the exhibit.

“It’s a crate that you turn into an exhibit. There are four crates, with an artifact on top of each one and a banner that goes with each one.” The exhibit has been circulating throughout Western Canada. “We were lucky enough to snag it when we could, because I think it’s on its way back to Winnipeg,” she said. “I think a lot of people are excited and happy to see it.”

Kondas provided the event schedule for the month of December:

Dec. 5 – Dec. 16 – Book Sale. Many new or gently used items (books, puzzles, dvd’s and cd’s)

Thurs. Dec. 7. – Book Worm Book Club. Meeting at 11 a.m. New members of all ages are welcome to join at any time. Participants all read a book and then gather to discuss it. “We know the book in advance that they’re reading. If you want to join, we can tell you what book they’re reading and a lot of times we have the date as well,” Kondas said.
