Town by-election date set for Sept. 7

The Town of Taber has announced an upcoming by-election to fill a vacant seat on Town Council. Key dates and deadlines for the Town of Taber by-election include:

• Nomination Period: July 7, 2023, to August 10, 2023. Interested candidates must submit their nomination papers to the Returning Officer during this period. The Candidate’s Package, nomination forms and guidelines can be obtained from the Town Office or downloaded at http://www.taber.ca/election 

• Nomination Day: August 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This is the deadline for candidates to put forth their name for consideration in the election. 

• Advanced Voting Days: TBA. For the convenience of voters, advanced voting will take place prior to election day. Further details regarding polling locations and times will be provided as soon as they are available. Watch the Town’s website for dates. 

• By-Election Day: September 7, 2023: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On this day, eligible Town of Taber residents are encouraged to cast their votes and make their voices heard. The polling station will be the Community Centre Auditorium (B 4720 50th Street, Taber). For voter eligibility and ID requirements, visit our website at http://www.taber.ca/election 

“The Town of Taber encourages all eligible residents to participate in the democratic process by nominating candidates, researching and speaking with candidates, and casting their ballots,” reads a statement from the Town. “By taking part in the by-election, residents can contribute to making our community a great place to grow by electing representatives they want to see serve on Council.”
