The Spirit of Taber is awarded to a business or organization that serves and promotes the community through time involvement, energy and volunteer hours spent, offers exemplary customer service, growth, staff and facility development, awards and innovation, and demonstrates excellence in the enthusiastic support and promotion of our community. And looking around town, Taber Gymnastics Club not only ticks all of the boxes but exceeds them.
As the winner of the 2022 Spirit of Taber award winner, the group is incredibly honoured to be named.
“We were very surprised and pleased. We’ve been part of the community for over 30 years and never received an award. My first thought was, ‘how did we get this?’ We are very honoured and pleased and just happy that everybody else in the community recognizes what we are trying to do for the community,” stated Danielle Hansen.
The group offers tons of programming for the community and the building is also available to rent. Their building has not only been a huge asset for the club but also for the entire community.
“We have gymnastics, we have parkour, we have field trips for the schools — I think we’ve got every single school that comes for field trips —and we provide open gym. So, if a parent doesn’t want to register their child, they can do drop-ins on Fridays and Saturdays. We also provide parties. Ever since we got this facility built, we are trying to do as much as we can in the community. We have done team building parties, you name it,” added Hansen.
And with community such an important factor for the club, they are incredibly appreciative of all of the support.
