At the end of the month, Alberta MLAs will head to Edmonton for the new sitting of the Legislative Assembly.
Now that Premier Danielle Smith is an official MLA in Brooks-Medicine Hat, the next session is rapidly approaching.
“The big things going on right now, obviously the premier just won her seat in Brooks-Medicine Hat, so that is a good sign,” stated Taber-Warner MLA Grant Hunter. “That’s important because she can be in the legislature now and be able to go toe-to-toe with (Rachel) Notley and it allows her to debate important decisions that will be made in terms of the Alberta Sovereignty Act, her response to the COVID issues, and vaccination issues. Those things are important for her to be in the legislature. I think that’s why the by-election was so important. She did relatively well in that by-election. I think because of the weather, lots of people didn’t want to go out, but by-elections are by in large pretty low representation anyway.”
With the session starting next week, Hunter explained what he’s hoping to see.
