At the Feb. 28 regular meeting of Taber town council, Taber-Warner MLA Grant Hunter stood before council to give an update on the newly released budget for the 2022 fiscal year, to introduce himself to Taber’s three new councillors, and to answer any questions that arose.

“It’s good to be here. For those that know me, I like to get around after each of the elections to chat with the new councillors and we have three new councillors, so it’s good to meet you Monica (McLean), and I’ve known Alf (Rudd) and Joanne (Sorensen) for a little. So I’m just here to introduce myself and sort of give a State of the Union. We’re back in session now — we started a week ago and we did a Speech from the Throne and that basically just set out what we will be doing for the last year of our mandate. The three main things we will be focusing on will be increasing the healthcare system to make it more robust and able to deal with future issues like a pandemic. These are the type of things we have to address as we can’t keep shutting things down,” said Hunter.
