After a previous request from Community Futures, the Municipal District of Taber has approved funding for their Beautification Program in 2022.
Community Futures first approached the M.D. at their Nov. 22 meeting about more funding for the program. In 2018, the M.D. had provided $14,928, which was provided to five businesses. The program is designed to encourage and provide businesses with the opportunity to improve the appearance of their business by offering grant dollars and interest-free loans to a maximum of $10,000. Up to $2,000 is grant dollars and up to $8,000 is provided as an interest-free loan.
“This item is in relation to a presentation that council received in November regarding the Community Futures Beautification Loan Program. This is to consider adding $6,000 to the 2022 budget to fund up to two loans within the M.D. So if council remembers, basically the Beautification Loan Program is open to any businesses who are taking part in the beautification of their business, whiter that be facade improvements internal or external,” explained Ben Young, planning and economic development officer.
