Taberites and visitors, it’s time once again to get your Cornfest on in 2021. Corn is king!

Southern Alberta’s largest free outdoor festival is back Aug. 26-28 in Confederation Park. The Taber and District Chamber of Commerce is working closely with Alberta Health Services to host a safe, fun and free family festival this summer.

“Our planning and experiences will continue to flex and will be responsive to the changing environment. Our Facebook page will contain the most up-to-date information about Cornfest, as well as other social media pages, including Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram,” it was stated in an online post from the chamber.

In the past, Cornfest has featured fun for all ages — entertainment, exhibitions, displays, a large Show and Shine of classic and many other character cars, a midway of rides, fireworks and a variety of other events. Of course, the famous Taber vegetable is celebrated in displays, events, in food and with a cornucopia of corn-tests.

Co-chair Rick Popadynetz said at this point, the chamber is planning to have Cornfest on all levels. “We’re working with AHS to plan this family, free and fun festival.”

“If we have to scale back, we will. But at this point, we’re going to try and plan to have everything. What I’m getting from AHS is the plan to have everything opened and going by that time,” he added.

Currently, the chamber is looking for sponsors for this year’s event. “We’re looking for sponsors right now. And Bruce Warkentin is our ad and sponsor guy,” Popadynetz noted.
