To the people in power, be careful what you do.
The long-term ramifications of actions without thought can leave a sour taste in the mouths of the future.
I had first hand involvement of such a situation. Many years ago, a substantial sum was willed to the Taber Fire Department to assist with purchasing new equipment and the overall operations.
From the donors’ perspective, this money was squandered by the town and not put to good use.
Subsequently, the final family estate gave a significant donation to the big city to the west, that was in turn used towards a major civic improvement to the benefit of many.
A warning to those in elected positions: be careful the dragon teeth of your actions. They might come back to bite you.
