In response to the Letter to the Editor from David Potiuk in the April 12, 2017 edition of the Taber Times, I would like to make the following comments.
I believe that that Mr. Potiuk wrote this Letter to the Editor with the best intentions for our new businesses in Taber, and appreciate his concerns for making new business feel welcomed in Taber. To recognize and greet new business is a top priority for the mayor and council, and a goal I take very seriously.
In the town’s Corn Husk Chronicles from February this year, council welcomed Pizza Hut and A1 Pizza besides a number of other businesses. As mayor, I have visited these two businesses. R.J. Mini Mart opened recently and I am looking forward to visiting them and welcoming them to town in the near future.
All existing and new businesses are a high priority for this council, as we expressed again in April’s Corn Husk Chronicles by encouraging all our residents to shop local as much as possible. I’d like to thank Mr. Potiuk for his concern for our local businesses, and would like to thank all citizens and business for their continued work in making our local economy stronger.
On behalf of council,
MAYOR HENK DEVLIEGER
