Farm worker against Bill 6

Posted on December 16, 2015 by Taber Times

I just want to put in a few words from the worker’s point of view about Bill 6. When I read about this, I see lots of Alberta is the only province that doesn’t have this in place.

I moved here with my family about four years ago from Ontario, so I know what it’s like to work under these laws that are supposed to be so good for the employee.

I just want to tell you, the years that I worked on a farm here in southern Alberta have been so much easier and better, because there was some freedom here.

One other thing I can safely say is that 75 per cent of the workforce on farms in southern Alberta are against Bill 6, because they know the truth about this kind of law.

What really bothers me, is how the politicians use the word safety to get all the people who have no idea about farming to be on their side, when all they want to do is line their pockets with cash, and show their power.

When the next step comes, where the union wants to come in, another set of people who are too lazy to work, will want cash in their pockets, not just from the bosses, but also from the employee.

So the way I see it, this is going to become a big mess.
If anybody thinks they actually care about the workers, well they would have to prove to me first that they are different from what I have seen in Ontario.

The saddest thing is that common sense died long ago.
