Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns (4-25-2) earned a win and loss in its South Central Alberta Hockey League homestand on the weekend.
Saturday’s tilt was a 7-4 victory over Foothills Bisons (12-18-1).
Ty Fraser had a huge game with five goals. Kade Duell and Ryan Holm added singles. Kaden Pahl drew two assists.
Marek Schlenker earned the win in net, facing 34 shots on goal.
Sunday afternoon’s game featured the Golden Suns getting devoured by the Medicine Hat Hounds (29-0-2) 14-3.
Fraser had two more goals and Bowman Klippenstein notched a single.
Kahil Wright and Schlenker were under siege in goal, facing a combined 63 shots in the loss in goal.
Taber peewee “AA” Golden Suns have two road contests against Cranbrook BP Wings on Saturday and Sunday.
BANTAM: Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns (5-26-1) earned a split in SCAHL play on the weekend.
Friday night’s game saw a 6-0 blanking at the hands of Lethbridge Hurricanes 17-9-6) on the road.
Ty Young took the loss in net, facing 35 shots on goal.
Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns rebounded by returning the favour on the Hurricanes by beating them 5-2 back at home on Saturday afternoon.
Scoring was spread out by the Golden Suns with Carter DeBoer, Carson Cleland, Nathan Verloop, John VandenElzen and Brinley Degenstein notching singles.
Caden Heins and Jed Magarrell each had two assists.
Young earned the win in net, facing 27 shots.
Taber bantam “AA” Golden Suns have road games against Olds Grizzlys and Central Alberta Selects on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
MIDGET: Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns (16-12-6) dropped both of its games in SCAHL competition over the weekend.
The team was shut out by Wheatland Chiefs (19-10-3) 3-0 on the road on Saturday.
Logan Leroux faced 30 shots on net in the loss in goal.
The team was then doubled up 6-3 by Medicine Hat Hounds (19-13-1) on the road on Sunday.
James Halverson, Hayden Mack and Dallas Bodnar tallied for the Suns. Cole Jensen had two assists.
Ethan Barrows took the loss in net, facing 32 shots on goal.
Taber midget “AA” Golden Suns host Wheatland Chiefs at the Taber Arena on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
