The end of the first half of the hockey season is rapidly approaching, and Taber Golden Suns teams look to improve their position in the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) standings.
U11
Only one game came and went for the U11 team as they took off to Foothills to play the Bisons on Saturday. This one was all Suns as they cruised to a 9-1 win over the Bisons. Maddex Howg and Rhett Schooten each scored and had four assists, while Parker Avison scored a hat trick and had an assist. Heston Honess, Carter Wiest, Madden Nakamura, and Wyatt Foote all hit the back of the net, and Carter Van Braak notched an assist. Tove Morgan patrolled the blue paint and made 14 saves on 15 shots.
Only one game remains in 2025 for the U11s as they come home this weekend to play the Airdrie Lightning. Puck drop goes at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
U13
No AEHL games were on the schedule for the U13 Suns. They have a pair of home games coming this weekend to wrap up the year. On Friday night, Taber and the Foothills Bisons battle in Vauxhall at 6:30 p.m. Sunday sees the Suns welcome in the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Taber Arena.
U15
The U15s were also off from AEHL action this past weekend. The coming weekend sees them back on the ice for a pair of home games. On Friday night, they welcome in the Medicine Hat Hounds for an 8:15 p.m. puck drop. Saturday’s action has the East Kootenay Avalanche in town for a 5:30 p.m. game.
U18
It was a one-game weekend for the U18 Suns as they were in Medicine Hat, taking on the Hounds Friday night. Neither team was able to break a tie late in the third period, as it ended 4-4. Lincoln Weiss led the way with a goal and two assists, Chase Stronge scored and added an assist, Landon McEwen and Loki Thacker had the other goals, while Jackson Veilleux, Breton Villemaire, Ryler Kiss, and Blake Smith all notched an assist. Jack Lukacs started between the pipes and made 42 saves on 46 shots.
The U18s look to end 2025 with a pair of wins as they wrap up the year with two home games. Saturday sees a rematch between the Suns and Medicine Hat Hounds at 8 p.m. The following day, the Foothills Bisons come to Taber for a 3:30 p.m. game.
