It was another busy weekend for Taber Oil Kings teams as the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL) regular season was rolling once again.
U11 Tier 3
It was a two-game weekend for the U11 Tier 3 squad as they had a pair of home games. On Saturday, they saw Magrath come to town to begin the weekend. Thanks to big second and third periods, Taber was able to skate to a 6-3 win. Dreyton Kinniburgh scored a pair of goals while Seth Denny and Ethan Ausmus each had a goal and an assist. Dirk Devries and Vaughn Emelson scored, and Lucas Bowman, Cole Span, and Jace Perini all had an assist. Avi Rex collected the win in net with 11 saves on 14 shots.
The following day, Brooks visited Taber as the Oil Kings looked to make it a 2-0 weekend. Taber was able to score in each period as they gutted out a 3-2 victory. Denny had two of the Taber goals, and Bowman had the other. Kinniburgh, Devries, and Emelson all collected an assist in the win. Rex was back in net and made 10 saves on 12 shots.
This coming weekend sees another pair of games as they head out on the road for both. On Saturday, Taber heads to Raymond for a 1:30 p.m. puck drop. Sunday’s game sees Taber take on Foremost at 2:30 p.m.
U11 Tier 5
The U11 Tier 5 Oil Kings are preparing for a three-game weekend coming up. On Friday evening, they head out on the road to take on Duchess at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday afternoon, they’re back on the road as they play Brooks Red at 1 p.m. The weekend wraps up with a home game against Bow Island on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
U13
A single game was on tap this past weekend for the U13s. On Saturday afternoon, they hosted Cardston for their lone game of the weekend. A big five-goal third period propelled Taber to a 9-4 win on home ice. Cage Holcek had a hat trick and an assist, Cooper Ross had two goals and two assists, Nate Antosko scored twice and added an assist, and Chason Sekura scored and had an assist. Hudson Ilczynski had two assists, Tyrion Ewing scored a goal, and Ryden Baker and Kalum Turcato each notched an assist. Kohen Ilczynski was in net for Taber and posted 22 saves on 26 shots.
Two final games in 2025 come this weekend for the U13 Oil Kings. On Friday evening, they head out to Coaldale to take on the Cobras at 5:45 p.m. On Saturday, Coaldale comes to Taber for a rematch at 3 p.m.
U15
The U15 Oil Kings had one game on the schedule this past weekend as they hosted Foothills Blue on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Oil Kings, they fell back early and were unable to make a comeback as they dropped the game 4-1. Baron Stang had the lone Taber goal, assisted by Mitchell Kimoto and Cage Holcek. Aidyn Arnel-Derksen was the starting netminder and made 18 saves on 22 shots.
This weekend, the U15s return to the ice for a single game to wrap up 2025. On Saturday, they hit the road to take on Foothills Blue at 5:15 p.m.
U18
It was a weekend off from CAHL action for the U18s as they regroup for one final game of 2025. On Saturday, they head out to Bow Island to take on the Rebels at 4:15 p.m.
