CAHL sets tiers for 2025-26 season

With the Central Alberta Hockey League’s tiering round officially over, Taber Oil Kings teams are preparing for the regular season beginning this weekend.

U11 Tier 3 

The Tier 3 Oil Kings went 5-3 in the tiering round, with a goals-for total of 49 and a goals-against total of 43. They began the tiering round in Tier 3 Blue with Redcliff, Foremost, and Coaldale. The regular season sees Taber in Tier 3 Blue with Brooks, Magrath, Raymond, Foremost, and Irvine.

First regular season games for the U11 Tier 3 come this weekend when they have a two-game home stand. On Saturday, they welcome in Irvine for a 12:45 p.m. puck drop. Sunday sees Foremost come to Taber for a 10:30 a.m. game.

U11 Tier 5

After the tiering round, the U11 Tier 5 Oil Kings had a 5-3 record with a goals-for of 72 and goals-against of 49. The team began in Tier 5 Blue with Redcliff White, Brooks Red, Duchess, Bow Island, and Brooks Blue. For the regular season, Taber is joined in Tier 5 Blue with Brooks Red, Brooks Blue, Duchess, Bow Island, and Redcliff White.

The Tier 5 squad begins the regular season this weekend with a home game on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Duchess. Sunday’s action sees the team on the road to take on Brooks Blue at 1:30 p.m.

U13 Tier 3

The tiering round for the U13 Oil Kings saw the team go 3-5, scoring 52 goals and allowing 67. Pincher Creek, Airdrie, Raymond, Coaldale, and Claresholm were originally slotted in Tier 3 Blue with Taber. After the tiering round, Taber is in Tier 3 Red with Cardston, Magrath, Raymond, Coaldale, and Foothills.

The Oil Kings open up the regular season with a home game on Saturday against Coaldale at 3 p.m. The weekend wraps up on Sunday as Magrath comes to town for a 1 p.m. puck drop.

U15 Tier 3

In Tier 3 Brown, the U15 Oil Kings went 3-5 with 38 goals-for and 69 goals-against. Teams originally slotted with Taber were Crowsnest Pass, Lethbridge Red, Coaldale, Kainai, and Lethbridge White. At the end of tiering, Taber is in Tier 3 Orange with Kainai, High Country, Lethbridge White, Foothills Blue, and Lethbridge Red.

Regular season action begins on Saturday when Taber welcomes in Kainai for a 5:30 p.m. game. On Sunday, Lethbridge Red comes to Taber for a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.
