In the final weekend of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League regular season, the Southern Alberta Chaos were looking to finish up on a high note. On the road for both games, the weekend began on Saturday with an afternoon matchup against the Calgary Axemen.
In a back-and-forth battle, it was the Axemen who were able to carve out a 9-8 win over the Chaos. Hunter Skrove and Dash Robichaud led the way with two goals and an assist while Austin Sheen scored a hat trick. Michael Dyck scored once and added three assists, while Logan Jones, Ty Hanson, and Jett Matisho all found the scoresheet with an assist.
After a stumble to start the weekend, the Chaos looked to end the regular season with a win as they took on the Rockyview Rage on Sunday afternoon. The Chaos were able to gain an early lead in the first and they continued to score en route to a 13-8 win. Sheen was unstoppable with four goals and four assists, Dyck scored three and added three assists, and Matisho had a pair of goals and four assists. Robichaud scored and added three assists, Carter Kerkhoff scored a hat trick, Skrove had three assists, and Hanson had an assist.
The Chaos finished the regular season in first place in the Jr. B Tier II South Division with a 14-2 record. Playoffs are set to begin July 18 and run until July 27. Round one starts this coming weekend, though the Chaos have a bye since they finished in one of the top two positions.
