Taber Times
After a break for most teams, Taber lacrosse was back in action this week.
U11
The U11s were back competing in Southern Alberta Lacrosse League (SALA) regular season games early this month. On May 10, the team played in a pair of games against Medicine Hat Sundevils Yellow and Black.
In their first matchup against Drillers White, the Thrashers were unable to stop a relentless Medicine Hat offence as they fell 12-1. Ekaterina Siniavskaia was the lone Taber goal scorer.
Looking for a rebound later that afternoon, the Thrashers once again faced a potent offensive team. In the end, Sundevils Black was able to gain a big lead and cruise to a 13-2 win. Damien Ellis scored both Taber goals.
The U11s were back in action on May 25 when they took on Sundevils Black once again. Unfortunately for the Thrashers, Medicine Hat was all business as they took out 16-1. Dreyton Kinniburgh had the lone Taber goal and Ellis drew the assist.
Next up for the U11s is a pair of home games on May 31 against Brooks Drillers White at 112:45 a.m. and then Lethbridge Cudas Blue at 3:30 p.m.
U13
It was a two-game weekend for the U13 Thrashers as they were in Medicine Hat on Sunday afternoon. The first matchup saw Taber take on the Brooks Drillers. In a back-and-forth game between the two, Brooks was able to stave off a Thrashers comeback as Taber fell 5-4. Jayce Ellis had a goal and two assists while Zachary Boulay, Kade Lebeuf, and Lincoln Braun all scored.
In their final game of the weekend, the Thrashers competed against the Medicine Hat Sundevils Black. No game sheet was available on Tuesday morning.
Next weekend sees another two games for the U13s as they head to Lethbridge for both. First up is a game against Lethbridge Cudas White. Later that evening, they rematch against Sundevils Black.
U15
Saturday saw the Thrashers back in action for the regular season as they were in Medicine Hat. The Thrashers took on Medicine Hat Sundevils Yellow in their first game. The Thrasher scored early and often as they took it 12-8. Hayden Eldridge scored three times and added two assists while Cohen Lebeuf had a goal and four assists. Logan Rabusic had a hat trick and an assist, Barrett DeVlieger scored three goals, Alexander Wall and Benjamin White Quills had one goal apiece, and Jonah Fournier had an assist.
Later that afternoon, the Thrashers were back on the court as they took on Sundevils Black. Despite taking the first lead, the Thrashers saw Sundevils Black score seven over the final two periods en route to a 7-3 win. Logan Rabusic notched a goal and an assist, DeVlieger and Eldridge had a goal each and Fournier had another assist.
Next SALA action for the U15s comes on May 31 when they host Medicine Hat Sundevils Yellow and the Lethbridge Cudas at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
U17
The U17s returned to regular season action on May 24 when they hit the road to play the Medicine Hat Sundevils. The Thrashers held a 5-3 lead heading into the third period, but the Sundevils potted five goals to take it 8-6. Heston Hansen had five of the Taber goals while Kellon Schalk had a goal and two assists. Raiden Koizumi, Jenner Workman, and Cruz Duell all notched an assist.
Southern Alberta Chaos
After a lengthy break from Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League regular season play, the Chaos were back in action this past weekend. With a pair of games on tap, the first saw the Chaos hit the road to take on the Calgary Wranglers. The Chaos jumped to an early lead but were unable to hold it as the Wranglers scored two in the final period to take a 6-5 win. Connor Materi led the way with two goals and two assists, Austin Sheen scored twice and added an assist, Carter Kerkhoff had the other Chaos goal, and Michael Dyck, Devon Robichaud, Jett Matisho, and Ty Hanson had an assist each.
After dropping the first game of the weekend, the Chaos returned home on Sunday as they looked for a win against the Calgary Axemen. The Chaos once again took a lead heading into the second, and this time they continued to score. When all was said and done, the Chaos were victorious 23-7. Robichaud had six goals and six assists, Sheen scored four and had eight assists, and Dyck had five goals and six assists. Materi added five more goals and three assists, Colton Litke had a pair of goals and two assists, Kerkhoff had a goal and two assists, and Carter Foote, Matisho, Hael Maxwell-Lyster, and Cameron Greenley all had two assists. Asher Pancoast and Taeson Knife each had an assist to round out the scoring.
The coming weekend sees another two games for the Chaos. On Saturday they hit the road again as they take on the Foothills Spurs at 3 p.m. On Sunday, they return home for a 2:30 p.m. game against the Rockyview Rage.
