Later this month, the Southern Alberta Chaos will be back on the court for a new season. Competing in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League in the Tier II division, the Chaos will take on the Calgary Axemen, Calgary Bandits, Calgary Wranglers, Foothills Spurs, Mountain View Stingers, Rockyview Rage, and Strathmore Venom for the division crown. The Chaos started their mini-camps in late February, with spring training taking place in March. The team officially started team practices at the beginning of this month as they prepare for the regular season.
Last year, the team finished with a 10-6 record, good for a tie for second place in the division with the Rockyview Rage. This season, games begin on April 23 and end on July 13, with playoffs running from July 18-27. Provincials will run from Aug.1-4 in Calgary.
The Chaos will begin their 2025 campaign at home on April 26 when they welcome in the Mountain View Stingers for a 6 p.m. game. Last season, the Chaos went 2-0 in the regular season against the Stingers and outscored them 41-11. The team then heads out on the road for three straight before returning home on May 25 against the Calgary Axemen. Overall, the Chaos have 16 regular season games, seven of them in Taber.
Other home dates include June 1 against the Rage, June 7 against the Bandits, June 8 against the Wranglers, June 21 against the Spurs, and June 22 against the Venom. This year’s coaching staff includes head coach Jared Capner and assistants Mike Materi and Evan Douglas. Their manager is Sue Medhurst and their trainer is Gord Watt.
