The Taber Christian High School Lions won the bronze medal in the Deep South League Championship taking a 54-45 win over Stirling. We came out in the first quarter a little flat against Stirling and then we were able to pick up our play throughout the game to take the win. Stirling played tough defense on us, and we really needed to work to get our shots off. Heading into the fourth quarter we were behind 25-36, and we had to pick up our game. One of their key players fouled out in the fourth quarter and we were able to capitalize on that and out score them 19-9 for the win.

Irena Kuyper was our leading scorer with 19, followed by Iya Hoekstra with 13 and McKenzie Siemens adding six. On the boards Kuyper led with 17, Hoekstra grabbed 10 and Logan Meier with seven. Kuyper also had five blocks.

This wrapped up league play for the team and they move into zone play this week. There are only four teams in the South Zone for 2A teams, and two of the four will get a berth into the Provincial tournament.

The Lions will play their semi final game for zones against Matthew Halton at 4:45 on Friday March 14 at Lethbridge Polytechnic.
