The Taber Christian High School Lions traveled to Immanuel Christian High School, who hosted the quarter final game for the Deep South League Finals on Feb. 12.

We ended up third overall in league play putting us against the sixth place team which was Chinook High School.

We had a good game against Chinook taking the win 73 – 43. We were able to have a strong start in the first half and had a good lead at half time. We wanted to work on our third quarter play as a goal for the game and the girls were able to meet that goal. Chinook did start shooting from the three point line but we worked hard on defence to maintain control of the scoreboard.  Iya Hoekstra had a great game leading scoring with 25 points, Irena Kuyper added 14 and Katelyn Bennen with nine. For rebounds Hoekstra and Kuyper both had 12 with Logan Meier grabbing nine.

Our defense was strong with the girls working hard for steals, Hoekstra had 10, Kuypers had eight and both Meier and Kenzie Siemens had five each. We have a break this week for Family Week and will return to play on February 26 for the semi final game against Immanuel Christian.

This will be an exciting match up for us, ICHS was our first game of the season and we are looking forward to another chance to compete with them.
