This past weekend was another round of games for the Taber Golden Suns as they all continued their regular season schedules in the Elite Alberta Hockey League (AEHL).
U11
Only one game was on tap this past weekend for the U11s as they were on the road to take on the Medicine Hat Hounds on Sunday. Thanks to two straight goals in the third, the Hounds skated to a 6-5 win. Nash Dyck scored four of the Taber goals while Heston Honess had the other. Boone Depew and Paxton Foote each had an assist in the loss. Rem Jardine got the start in net and made 19 saves on 25 shots.
Coming this weekend is another single game on Saturday as they head to Lethbridge to take on the Hurricanes at 11:30 a.m.
U13
It was a one-game weekend for the U13s as well as they hosted the Olds Grizzlys on Sunday. Taber skated to an 8-4 win thanks to a five-goal second period. Travis Jackson scored four goals, Shawn Mrowil and Blaze Wenzel had a goal and three assists each, Cooper Lutz and Declan Okell had a goal and two assists, and Holden Emelson and Deacon Webb had an assist each. Nash Stober collected the win in net with 26 saves on 30 shots.
U15
Two games were on the U15’s schedule this weekend as they hosted Wheatland and East Kootenay. On Saturday, the Warriors came to town and tied the Suns with a 4-4 game. Hayden Eldridge had two assists, Cole Bouchard, Ryland Span, Cason Flexhaug, and Grayson Honess scored, and Bril Haraga, Myles Matisho, and Tony King all had an assist. Jack Lukacs was the starter and made 29 saves on 33 shots.
Sunday’s game against East Kootenay saw Taber fall back early and they were never able to recover as they lost 6-2. Hudson Stenger had two assists, Eldridge and Jhett Stober had the goals, and Ben Van Der Linde and Span had an assist each. Ashton Jensen made 38 saves on 44 shots in the Taber net.
Two more games are on the way this weekend for the U15s as they head out on the road on Saturday to take on the Bow Valley Timberwolves at 2:15 p.m. On Sunday, the team returns home to take on the Okotoks Oilers at 1 p.m.
U18
The U18s were on the ice Sunday as they took on the CBHA Rangers. Unfortunately for Taber, the home team steamrolled to a 13-1 win. Raiden Koizumi had the Taber goal while Maxx Davis and Nathan Rijkens had the assists. Dakota Hurst made 21 saves on 28 shots and Dagrin Bahr-Hemsing had 24 stops on 30 shots.
It’s a two-game weekend coming for the U18 Golden Suns this weekend as they host Red Deer on Saturday at 8 p.m. On Sunday, the East Kootenay Avalanche are back in town for a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.
