Taber Times
It was a busy weekend for Elite Alberta Hockey League teams this weekend and Taber Golden Suns teams were back on the ice looking to get a few points under their belt.
U11
It was a two-pack of games for the U11s as they hosted a pair of home tilts against Sylvan Lake and Brooks. Saturday saw the Lakers come to town and the Suns shot out of the canyon early as they outshot the visitors 15-3. Nash Dyck had the lone Taber goal as Paxton Foote collected the assist. The Lakers would add one of their own as the game was tied heading into the second.
Foote scored a quick goal for Taber in the second as Dyck had the assist. That would be it for scoring as both teams were unable to find the back of the net. The third saw goals come fast and furious for both sides but Taber was able to hold their own as they skated to a 5-4 victory. Dyck had another goal and an assist, Blake Bryan and Maddex Howg had a goal each and Boone Depew and Braxton Denham found the scoresheet with an assist each. Rem Jardine got the start in net for Taber and had 14 saves on 18 shots.
Sunday saw the Brooks Jr. Bandits come to town and despite allowing the first goal, it was all Taber from start to finish. The Suns outshot Brooks 41-16 en route to a 5-1 win. Depew notched two goals and an assist, Blake had a goal and an assist, Carter Wiest chipped in with two assists, Heston Honess scored a single goal, and Howg, Tommy Palaschak, Dyck, Foote, and Dacen Knoblich all had an assist. Tove Morgan was in net for Taber and made 15 saves onboard 16 shots.

U13
Two games came and went for the U13s as they had an eventful weekend. On Saturday, the Suns were back on the road to take on the Bow Valley Timberwolves. Each team would score one goal in the first and the Suns found the back of the net on the powerplay as Shawn Mrowil tied the game up. Declan Okell and Boston Constant notched the assist. It was the same in the second period as the home team scored first before Blaze Wenzel tied the game back up for Taber. Travis Jackson and Cooper Lutz collected the assists.
The Suns came out firing in the third as they scored three straight as Constant, Jackson, and Deacon Webb all scored for Taber. Constant, Mrowil, and Wylie Campbell all collected assists. The Timberwolves would add another before Jackson found the empty net to notch a 6-3 victory for Taber. Eli Robb and Jaxon Kalo were credited with an assist each on the final goal. Drew Tame was tough to beat in between the pipes as the netminder made 20 saves on 23 shots.
Coming home on Sunday, the Suns took on the Wheatland Braves. The Braves would score five straight in the first and second periods before Constant got Taber on the board late in the third. Mrowil and Jackson Wiest had the assists. Wheatland would add another later goal as they took the game 6-1. Nash Stober made 24 saves on 30 shots in the Taber net.
The Suns now regroup for another two- game weekend on the road. On Saturday and Sunday, the team takes on the East Kootenay Avalanche.
U15
It was a one-game weekend for the U15 Golden Suns as they welcomed in Reed Deer on Saturday. Bril Haraga would kick things off for Taber as Tony King had the lone assist. Red Deer would tie the game several minutes later and that would be all for scoring as the teams went into the middle frame tied at one.
In the second, Red Deer scored the lone goal of the period. Red Deer would extend that lead in the third before Hudson Stenger cut the lead to one. King and Hayden Eldridge had the assists on Taber’s second goal. With under three to play, Eldridge would find the back of the net to tie the game up. Madix Miller had the lone assist on the tying goal. Neither team was able to break the deadlock and the game ended tied 3-3. Ashton Jensen made 31 saves on 34 shots in the Taber net.
