The Central Alberta Hockey League saw their final games of the month over this past weekend as Taber Oil Kings teams looked to add a few wins with the regular season winding down.
U11
The U11s were off this past weekend as they regroup for February. Their month of games begins on Saturday when they welcome in Pincher Creek for a 12:45 p.m. game. The following day, Nanton comes to Taber for a 10:30 a.m. puck drop.
U13
The U13 Oil Kings looked to end January on a high note with a pair of road games. First up was a stop in Coaldale that saw the Cobras win handily — 8-2. Mitchell Kimoto and Wyatt Valgardson had the Taber goals while Samuel Hathaway had an assist. Aidyn Derksen Arnel got the start in net and made 17 stops on 25 shots.
On Sunday, the Oil Kings were back on the road, this time to face off against High Country. Despite a solid effort, Taber was unable to finish with a win as they fell 9-5. Kash Kover had a pair of goals and an assist in the game while Kimoto had two goals, Dalan Blasetti had a goal and an assist, Seth Kespersen had two assists, and Logan Rabusic finished with a single assist. Derksen Arnel was back in net and made 33 saves on 42 shots.
The U13s are back on the ice this coming Sunday when they head out to Crowsnest Pass for a 3 p.m. game.
U15
The U15 Oil Kings finished off their busy month with a single road game against Kainai on Friday night. Taber scored multiple goals in each period en route to an 8-3 victory. Ryder Nielsen and Kash Kover had a hat trick each while Lincoln Wiebe had a goal and two assists, Ethan Volk had a goal and an assist, and Kellon Schalk and Julian Woordman had an assist each. Brodyn Sutka was in between the pipes and made 22 saves on 25 shots.
The U15 Oil Kings return this coming weekend for a pair of home games. Friday night sees Pincher Creek in town for an 8:15 p.m. puck drop. The following day sees Coaldale in Taber for a 5:30 p.m. game.
U18
It was an off weekend for CAHL games for the U18 Oil Kings. Next U18 action comes on Feb. 9 when the Oil Kings hit the road to take on Brooks Blue for a 7:30 p.m. game.
