Taber Oil King teams were back on the ice this past weekend for Central Alberta Hockey League action as the season saw January come to a close.
U13
It was a busy weekend for the U13 Oil Kings as they had three games. First up was an away game against Bow Island on Friday night. The home team was able to score three goals in the third period en route to a 5-3 win. Hayden Eldridge scored two goals for Taber while Austin Odland had a single, and Seth Jespersen had an assist. Brodyn Sutka made 25 saves on 30 shots in the Taber net.
The Oil Kings looked to rebound on Saturday as they were back in Bow Island for a rematch. Tons of goals were scored, but the home team was once again able to pull out a win, this time 8-6. Ryder Nielsen had a goal and two assists, Julian Woordman scored two goals, Odland and Jespersen had a goal and an assist, Eldridge had two assists, Jaxson Badura had a goal, and Kash Kover had an assist. Brodyn Sutka made 31 saves on 35 shots while Aidyn Derksen Arnel made six saves on 10 shots.
The Oil Kings looked to collect a win in the final game of the weekend on Sunday when they were back on the road to take on Brooks. Unfortunately, the Oil Kings were unable to collect a win as the home team walked away from the rink with a 7-2 win. Eldridge had both Taber goals while Jenner Workman had an assist. Sutka was in net for Taber and the netminder made 36 saves on 43 shots.
Next action for the U13 Oil Kings comes on Feb. 11 at home against Redcliff at 3 p.m. and then on Feb. 12 at home against Bow Island at 10:30 a.m.
